Traveling in Southeast Asia is one of my favorite adventures. I recently got back from a 3 week trip to Vietnam. The people are amazing, the culture is incredible, the history is fascinating and the landscape is simply stunning. There are so many things to do in Vietnam that 3 weeks just touches the surface. Here is a overview of my adventure so when you plan your next trip, you'll know some of the highlights. Day 1. We arrived at the Hanoi Airport in the evening. Getting through customs was simple thanks to the travel company prearranging the visa's. Arriving in the evening helped as the airport wasn't very busy. Our guide from Exotic Voyages picked us up along with the driver. Our guide's name was Dat and he was very personable right from the start. He quickly got us acquainted with the local history as we drove to our hotel. Once we arrived at Quoc Hoa Hotel in Hanoi they made sure we got everything and said they'd meet us in the morning around 9:00. This worked out well since we were totally jet lagged from the trip and ready to sleep. I got in my room which was very nice, I had a canopy bed and a balcony. Looking out over the balcony from this small hotel, you quickly realize you aren't in the US anymore. I took a few minutes to look out over the balcony and watch the motorbikes cruising by below me and the local women washing their dishes for the evening.
This blog is part of a series from a recent 3 week trip I took to Southeast Asia through a Vietnamese based Luxury Travel company called Exotic Voyages.
The pictures provided are more beautiful that what I could ever imagine. It makes me want to visit this land myself. I want to know more.
I have to say I would love to go here. I have traveled to other countries before and the worst part of the trip to me is customs. I have never had a good experience with customs! It is always worth it once I get to where I want to go though. I enjoy traveling and just might put this on my future "To Go" list.
This sounds like a very peaceful place to visit. I am sure it is beautiful.
I am glad you were able to get a good guide. I have been on an across the sea trip before and our guide was not very good at all. He was not personable and didn't act like he liked us to much. It put a little damper on our trip, but we didn't let that ruin everything. It really makes a difference to have a good tour guide.
I can only imagine how exciting you must have been to arrive in Vietnam. To look out and see such beauty and such a different life than what I am use to (but in a positive way) would be such a gift.
